Care Types: Nursing Care
Sun Air Convalescent Hospital shares its grounds with a church. The two buildings reside together on a wide street. Rosebushes line the walkway leading to the front entrance, which is flanked by green lawn. The lobby, void of a receptionist, lies beyond the front double doors. Red tile mixes with the few floral chairs and a mirrored wall. We observed several residents in wheelchairs napping in this area. The living room contains a hodgepodge of mismatched chairs trimmed in wood. There is a large wood china cabinet and bookcase as well as an attractive fireplace and TV. We were told candlelit dinners are held here on the long banquet table. The living room opens out to the rectangular patio that runs the length of the building. Three round tables with plastic chairs chained to the table offer seating options. Tall evergreen trees and lush plantings provide an element of privacy.
Shared resident rooms have white tile floors with blue accents, and privacy curtains in different patterns and colors between each bed. The beds are newer and have pine head and footboards. Each room has its own small bathroom. Windows allow natural light to fill the space. There are two separate dining rooms, which are used for activities. During our visit, some residents were attending Mass in one of the dining rooms, while others were participating in an arts and crafts activity in the other. It was great to see different activities taking place simultaneously, which allowed us to witness the positive interaction between staff and residents. Staffers were very attentive and loving toward residents, which in turn resulted in what appeared to be a high level of comfort for both parties. Bingo, card games, checkers and watching movies are hallmarks of the activity schedule. …. SHOW MORE
