Beverly Hills’ average assisted living rate of $5,000 per month is on par with the median for California as a whole, but $700 higher than the national average of $4,300. In Arizona, seniors pay an average of $3,900, and in Nevada, rates are even lower are $3,595. To the north in Oregon, assisted living costs $4,695 per month, or about $300 less. Average costs are much higher in Washington at $5,750.
Compared to assisted living costs in Beverly Hills, prices in San Diego are $475 cheaper at $4,525. They’re even less expensive in Bakersfield, where retirees pay an average of $3,613. Rates average $5,845 in Oxnard, located about a one-hour drive to the west. Prices jump to $6,100 in San Francisco, and in Sacramento, they average $5,395 per month.

California’s Medicaid program, Medi-Cal, provides an Assisted Living Waiver for eligible low-income seniors that can help cover the cost of their care. The ALW is offered in 15 counties statewide, including Los Angeles County.
