Seniors living in York see an average price of $5,510 per month for assisted living.
York’s monthly cost for assisted living is $1,010 higher than the U.S. average of $4,500 and $1,410 higher than the Pennsylvania state average of $4,100.
Reading, at $5,720 a month, and Philadelphia, at $5,685 a month, are two of the few Pennsylvania cities that report higher prices than York. The state capital, Harrisburg, reports a monthly average cost of $4,828, roughly $700 cheaper than that of York. Allentown is quite close to Harrisburg’s price point at $4,784. Prices are notably cheaper in Pittsburgh, where the average monthly price is $3,250, or $2,260 lower than the price paid by York residents. According to the Genworth Financial study, the state’s lowest prices are in Johnstown, where residents pay $2,725, less than half of what York seniors pay.
