New Jersey’s Medicaid Managed Long Term Services and Supports program covers assisted living expenses for qualifying seniors in Shrewsbury. This office provides a broad range of services for those aged 60 and over, including health insurance options counseling, legal services and information and referrals to help older adults access services in the community such as transportation and meal sites to supplement assisted living facilities’ amenities. The office also provides social and recreational programming throughout the county.   
Red Bank Senior Citizens Center (732) 747-5204 The Red Bank Senior Citizens Center is located a mile away in Red Bank. At this location, members participate in a range of programs and activities, including board and card games, book clubs, daily exercise classes, knitting and sewing. The center also hosts summer cookouts and holiday parties, and it plans age-friendly day trips to local points of interest. It serves noontime meals daily, and door-to-door transportation services are available to and from the center.  
Family and Children’s Service (732) 222-9111 Family & Children’s Service is a local nonprofit organization that provides supportive services to eligible Shrewsbury residents. It administers the State Health Insurance Assistance Program, helping older adults make informed decisions regarding how to pay for assisted living. Through this program, trained volunteers provide free one-on-one counseling for seniors to outline their Medicare benefits, assess Medicaid eligibility and compare long-term care insurance policies. Volunteers can also help older adults review medical bills and resolve billing errors or denied claims.

This office can help seniors understand assisted living contracts, intake and discharge procedures and payment obligations. It can also help them navigate issues related to their public benefits, including Social Security overpayment, denied Medicare or Medicaid claims and canceled Medicare policies. 
New Jersey Long-Term Care Ombudsman  (877) 582-6995 The New Jersey Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program provides advocacy services to older adults in assisted living, helping them resolve issues related to the quality of care, interpersonal problems and care planning. The local ombudsman has a presence in assisted living facilities and ensures residents understand their rights and that facilities comply with state regulations. The ombudsman can also investigate reports of abuse or neglect and ensure the proper authorities are involved.
