At an average monthly cost of $3,650, according to the Genworth Cost of Care Survey 2020, assisted living in Lake Havasu is less expensive than the national average of $4,300 and the Arizona average of $3,900. Prices are lower in Utah at $3,400 and Nevada at $3,595 but rise to $4,050 in New Mexico and $5,000 in California.
Assisted living costs fluctuate throughout Arizona. Phoenix offers the second-lowest average price at $3,700, while prices rise slightly to the south in Tucson to $4,075 and Sierra Vista to $4,000. Assisted living costs the most in Flagstaff with an average price tag of $4,875, with monthly prices falling slightly in the middle of the state in Prescott Valley to $4,450. Seniors in Arizona’s southwestern corner in the community of Yuma pay an average of $4,025 per month.
Low-income seniors age 65 and over who require a nursing-home level of care may but who would rather remain living in the community, including assisted living facilities, may be eligible for assistance through the Arizona Long-Term Care System. Direct services include health care counseling, fall-prevention workshops and classes designed to help seniors manage chronic conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
