The monthly cost of assisted living in Biloxi is $3,738 a month, about $550 a month cheaper than the national average of $4,300. It’s slightly more expensive than the Mississippi average of $3,713, according to the Genworth Cost of Care Survey 2020. To the east, Alabama has an average cost of $3,150. Northwest of Mississippi is Arkansas, with costs of $3,500. Southwest of Mississippi, Louisiana averages $3,639 a month, and to the north, Tennessee costs $4,039 a month.
The monthly cost of assisted living in Mississippi varies significantly. Biloxi, on the Gulf Coast, is the least expensive at $3,738. Hattiesburg, in the middle of the state, is more expensive at $4,500. Jackson, the capital and farther north, has a cost of $4,348. To the west in Louisiana, Hammond has a monthly cost of $2,900, while to the east in Alabama, Mobile has assisted living costs of $3,318 and the Daphne area of Alabama has an average cost of $3,600.

The Mississippi Division of Medicaid offers an assisted-living waiver for low-income or very-low-income seniors and who, if not for the assistance offered, would require admittance to a nursing care facility. This waiver provides qualified beneficiaries with the opportunity to live in a state-licensed Personal Care Home-Assisted Living Facility (PCH – AL) that is approved as a Medicaid provider. Some of the services include help with activities of daily living (ADL), attendant care and transportation to medical appointments.
