St. Sabina Elders Village is a senior citizen housing facility located on the south side of Chicago. St. Sabina Elders Village consists of 80 one-bedroom units. The six story building provides community space consisting of a multipurpose room with adjoining kitchen, library, laundry facilities, mailboxes, public restrooms and offices. All units consist of a living/dining area, kitchen with appliances, bedroom, bathroom and closets. Each unit is equipped with a medical emergency alarm system which is monitored 24-hours a day. St. Sabina Elders Village is sponsored by Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago and financed under the Section 202 PRAC program of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The facility is operated by the housing division of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago.
St. Sabina Elders Village is specially designed for senior citizens who meet the following requirements:
Households of which the head or the spouse is at least 62 years of age or older.
All residents must be able to care for themselves.
Maximum household size: one bedroom units – 2 persons
Certification of Preference Status:
Currently with no means of housing.
Currently residing in substandard housing (includes currently homeless).
Currently paying more than 50% of income for housing (rent and utilities not including telephone).
