Normandy Farms Estates spans over one hundred grassy acres, ensconced by maples, pines and teeming lily and petunia gardens. The circular driveway at the building’s front surrounds a wishing well and various statuettes, apropos for such an imposing property. An old white barn and silo, remainders of a large working farm, sit beside the front entrance. A full putting green and shuffleboard courts invite residents to move, laugh and play.
Down the street an eighteen-hole golf course designed by Arnold Palmer—visible from much of the campus—further encourages a vivacious approach to life.The glass-enclosed foyer is comfortably furnished with wicker couches and chairs. Wall-to-wall carpet blankets the entire facility, with each unit being unique in color and décor. Winding, shaded paths weave through the land, connecting the separate units. In addition to Aspen, Birch, Chestnut, Dogwood, Elm and Filbert, all of which house independent living residents, Normandy Estates also contains a village within its confines named Carriage Homes.

These small cottages provide a quaint alternative to apartment living.The bright, spacious apartments all have walk-in closets, carpet and private patios, lawns or woods. Fully equipped kitchens tempt residents to be creative with their culinary skills. Chandeliers illuminate the regal dining area, complete with formally set tables. Meals are served restaurant-style and include meat dishes as well as casseroles and vegetarian options.
A country kitchen and small café offer more casual fare.Assisted living residents make their home in Oakbridge Terrace, adjacent to Willowbrooke Court, which houses the skilled nursing facility. These units each have their own dining facilities, café and casual kitchen. The common rooms in this community are home to many interesting elements, including a “safe” fireplace with flames represented by a hologram.
Others have TVs and various cozy seating areas. The programming for all residents includes crafts, bingo, religious services and music programs, as well as trips into the surrounding community. A full library, billiard room, auditorium, fitness center and pool provide additional space to keep active and socialize.The executive director who led our tour solidified the positive impression we had upon first glance. He personally answered many call bells from residents, explaining he had implemented a policy whereby no staff is allowed to pass one without answering it. He then added, “And I am staff.
