Manorcare Health Services – Tice Valley

ManorCare Health Services serves Walnut Creek’s affluent senior population. A steep climb leads visitors to the facility’s hillside locale, where stately columns punctuate the angular building. The exterior’s modern flavor is echoed in the attractive décor inside. A soothing green palette colors the main common area, where upholstered furnishings are grouped into intimate seating arrangements. One staff member escorted a resident to this area and offered a newspaper. Another knelt to speak with a wheelchair user at eye level. Freshly baked bread and other delicious offerings from the chef make mealtime a treat. The inviting dining room is furnished with comfortable wheeled chairs.

A handful of residents people-watched in the hallway during our tour. Vivid blooms graced a table in the wide corridor, which is edged with pinewood handrails. Expansive windows in residents’ moderately sized rooms offer views of the nearby rolling hills or surrounding landscaping. Residents alleviate the neutral color scheme and somewhat institutional feel of their rooms with colorful throws, cute stuffed animals and bulletin boards with cards and photographs of loved ones. ….
