The Preston Residence at Jenner’s Pond sits on eighty-eight acres of open space and wetlands, sharing a campus with its affiliated assisted living facility. Walking trails winding through grassy hills feature strategically placed wooden benches for resting, and there are also little stony brooks and a beautiful pond. The lovely outdoor garden area showcases shaded wrought-iron tables and hanging flower baskets. Tall brick columns and an overhang mark the entrance. Inside, floral wall murals complement the facility’s upscale country décor. An atrium with a beautiful water fountain is surrounded by houseplants and slated stone flooring. Green and white canopies festively announce nurses’ stations.
The country-themed décor continues throughout Preston Residence, with window dressings, carpet and furnishings all coordinating. Lots of patterns, color and charm make the common areas inviting and comfortable. There is a large living room and library with a fireplace for residents to relax and socialize. Common areas include an elegant dining room, activity room, therapy room, conference room and whirlpool spa area. Outside, the beautifully landscaped veranda is perfect for enjoying pleasant afternoons.

Resident suites are private and have lovely bay windows, allowing vast amounts of fresh sunlight to fill the rooms. Eight tastefully furnished rehab rooms are set aside and contain hardwood floors. Semiprivate suites are reserved for couples. During our visit, we met with a man who seemed very high functioning, but was staying in the rehab unit. It turns out his wife had recently suffered a stroked and required several weeks of rehab. Preston Residence arranged for the man to stay in the same suite as his wife throughout her rehab. This type of consideration is a clear reflection of the quality of care that this nonprofit organization provides.
