Avalon Memory Care – Hughes Circle Dallas

Avalon Hughes Circle provides a safe and loving environment for Alzheimer’s residents. The ranch home is tucked away in a serene and elegant neighborhood. The front yard is dotted with groomed bushes and mature trees. An off-white color scheme, tasteful décor, live plants and spotless upkeep are among the physical hallmarks of the home. Light-colored oak furniture and a large sectional furnish the common area where residents and guests gather to watch the big-screen TV. Overhead fixtures and floor lamps provide bright yet soothing light. There are no hallways due to the open design of the home. The residents’ rooms are large and furnished with tables, chairs and armoires. Residents’ personal belongings add elements of comfort to the rooms. The spacious dining room has two tables, which are also used for activities such as card games. During our visit, several residents were enjoying an afternoon snack at one of the tables. The simple menu features homemade meals made from fresh ingredients; the entrées are high in protein, usually incorporating chicken, turkey or beef.

A shady walkway in the backyard encourages residents to stroll while a sitting area provides a comfortable resting spot. Daily activities include field trips, morning exercise and cookie socials. The highly attentive staff knows each resident by name. During our visit, we noticed one caregiver helping a resident tie her shoe; both suddenly burst out laughing as the resident accidentally stepped on her.
